We had the most amazing time in Switzerland. Not hard when you have the best hosts in the world. Ruth and Rik went above and beyond and we all reaped the benefits. We felt at home and ate like kings. Now that we have done Paris the official vote is out. Switzerland was definitely thier favorite spot of the whole trip. I think it had something to do with all the fun things Ruth had planned out for us.
It started with a trip to the coolest kid park, then off to the Chocolate factory (the ride home with the kids was entertaining), followed by a hike into a mountain to see an underground waterfall and lake. Our last day in Switzerland Rik drove us to the Swiss Alps...WOW! The mountains are so impressive. We got to ride up a cable car (sorry Ruth...can't remember the mountain name) where we all had a chance to go down in a tobogan. We had a ball despite my serious fear of heights. The coolest thing of all is that we all got to see an avalanche. It was so incredible to see. After our little excursion to heights that man should not conquer, we went to a valley that sits among a bunch of mountains where we saw many waterfalls falling over 250 metres. We even got to stand behind one! The girls thought this was over the top. Thank you to Ruth and Rik...I think the adults favorite spot was Switzerland as well!
Then off to Paris we went - On the train again! We got to Paris late that day and mad ourselves at home in our Paris apartment. The location was great so we could walk to most places we wanted to go. The Eiffel tower was of course first on the list. The girls kept comparing it to the CN Tower. Regardless the ride up was fun and they enjoyed seeing Paris from so high. While in Paris we also went on the Bateau Mouches where we got to see Paris from the Seine. The main comment was "Mom - Did you bring us something to play on the boat". Ah well. I have to say that Paris was probably more for the adults. It was nice to be back since it was where Andy and I had our honeymoom. It brought back lots of nice memories. We philosophized on how things have changed in 10 years. We felt quite grateful! Of course I could not leave Paris without a little shopping. Everything is so beautiful!
We are now back home! We had a wonderful time away but it is nice to be back. We appreciate even more the life we have here in Canada!
Vive le Canada!
